PSW Energy refined its scheduling approach in December 2025 for installations that need additional site, electrical, access, or commissioning work.
The principle is straightforward: a project should receive the time required for its assessed scope. A standard allocation is not appropriate where the work involves additional complexity or where site conditions become clearer during planning.
Six factors that can extend a project schedule
The project team may allocate more time where work includes:
- switchboard alterations or other supporting electrical work
- backup or gateway equipment
- complex roof access or building conditions
- additional testing and commissioning requirements
- coordination with network, metering, or third-party work
- conditions that differ from the information available during the initial assessment
These factors do not automatically mean that a project is delayed. They mean the schedule needs to reflect the work, access, controls, and people required for the specific site.
The contract and project record carry the schedule
The current project schedule is the one communicated through the customer's contract and project record. Where the assessed scope or timing changes, the responsible team should explain the reason and provide the current scheduling position.
Customers should not rely on a general article as a promise of a fixed lead time. Equipment availability, approvals, weather, site access, project complexity, and external dependencies can all affect delivery.
Quality, safety, and accountability
Scheduling is part of the delivery control, not separate from it. Enough time must be available for the required preparation, installation, inspection, testing, commissioning, and customer handover.
